Signs of Burnout and How to Overcome

What is burnout?

Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion.
Its main cause is attributed to excessive, severe, or chronic stress and ultimately leads to “the extinction of motivation or incentive, especially where one's devotion to a cause or relationship does not produce the desired results.

Burnout is not medically diagnosed but clinical experts believe that co-factors, such as lifestyle, behavioral traits, nutrition and gene expression, may contribute to it.
Truth is, more often than not, the underlying root cause is that you aren’t taking care of yourself.

It is important, before talking about treatments, to be spot the signs and take action to correct the root cause.
Always pay attention to what your body is trying to tell you!

Key signs of burnout include:

  • Feeling drained or tired most of the time

  • Feeling overwhelmed

  • Feeling helpless, trapped, and defeated

  • Procrastinating a lot

  • Feeling detached/alone in the world

  • Having a negative outlook

Self-care is the solution to overcome burnout!

Practice Healthy Habits.
Get a good night’s sleep, keep good hygiene, and exercise regularly.

Seek Support.
Reach out to your loved ones, friends, co-workers, or simply talk to a therapist.

Try Relaxing Activities.
Yoga, meditation, walking, reading a book in the bathtub, aromatherapy, sonotherapy, or even sensory deprivation.

Mindfulness.
Practice deep breathing for about 3 minutes, breathing is everything.

Reevaluate Your Priorities.
Disconnect and remember what matters to you, that is your focus, and where focus goes energy flows.

Set Boundaries.
Limit contacts with negative people and "energy vampires". Take breaks when you need and don't feel sorry or guilty about it.

Healthy diet and nutrition.
Last but not least, the Latins used to say "mens sana in corpore sano", literally "healthy mind in a healthy body". A healthy diet and supplemented nutrition are essential to your overall well-being.

When considering supplements for treating burnout symptoms, it is important to understand that an effective remedial therapy is based on a varied regimen, as opposed to a short/long-term intake of the same supplement over and over again.

Given that a compromised fight or flight mechanism is at the source of your burnout, you might experience additional discomforts at different levels of the functional core processes.
Aside from the classic stress-related symptoms explored so far, your body might suffer from a weakened immune system, bowel disorders, or even hair loss and excessive skin dehydration.
The reason why is simple, everything in our body is interconnected!

In such case, besides the necessary consumption of vitamins and minerals blends, a recommended regimen, would take into account the following constituents' intake:

5-HTP is a natural amino acid extracted from Griffonia Simplicifolia seed used by our body in the synthesis of serotonin, increasing the endogenous levels of the same.

Artichoke Leaf extract is a known liver cleanser who, among its numerous benefits, supports digestive health and can lower cholesterol levels in the blood.

Ginger Root extract has beneficial properties for health, it is considered an "adaptogen" and a "superfood", used for the treatment of various ailments, its anti-inflammatory properties are well documented in scientific literature.

Saw Palmetto Berry extract has inhibitory effects on the the breakdown of testosterone into its byproduct, dihydrotestosterone, helping the body hold on to more of its testosterone and create less dihydrotestosterone, therefore slowing down or stopping the growth of the prostate gland and hair loss.

Horsetail extract is rich in vitamins (C, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, E, K), minerals (potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and bronze), carotenoids (provitamin A) and fiber. It also has a high content of silicon, a compound linked to the health of nails, bones and hair and epidermal cells.

Stinging Nettle is one of the richest vegetables in proteins and minerals. In addition to its medicinal benefits, it is rich in ursolic acid and quercetin, antioxidant compounds capable of inhibiting elastase and collagenase enzymes, so preserving the structure of the Extra Cellular Matrix, prevent and delay the effects of biological aging.

PABA is primarily used to maintain skin and hair health, although it also promotes digestive health support and helps against irritable bowel syndrome.

Now, can you imagine taking one of each everyday for months to come?
There comes more stress, right?
