Candidiasis, also known as a “yeast infection” is a common condition. This opportunistic infection occurs mainly in women and patients who are immunosuppressed. Diabetic patients are especially at risk for developing Candidiasis since there is a special relationship between Candida and glucose levels.
Candidiasis is caused by the yeast Candida albicans and typically lives on our bodies, when our immune system and own microbiome are in check Candida typically does not overgrow.

Cinnamon Bark contains several chemical constituents that are effective at inhibiting the cell membranes of Candida. Laboratory testing showed that Candida cells that were exposed to Cinnamon Bark were damaged causing a decrease to the surface of the cells (Hoang, 2020).
NAC, a mucolytic agent, has been found to be antimicrobial to Candida species. NAC also reduces the solid components of Candida Biofilm. This dual action acts as a fungistatic and inhibits the organism from growing.
Quercetin, a highly studied antioxidant has been found to induce yeast apoptosis, or cell death, by decreasing the cells ability to use energy efficiently.
Research has shown that Pau D'Arco contains many tannins, flavonoids, alkaloids, quinones and traces of saponins that are broad spectrum antimicrobials (Fernanda, 2009).
Ginger Root, a strong broad spectrum antimicrobial, has been found to reduce Candida's ability to produce endotoxin, which are chemicals that cause damage to healthy tissues (Hairul, 2020).
